How can I help someone find very low income housing?

I have a very dear friend who is a single mother to a 14 year old daughter. Both my friend and her daughter are lovely people. She has struggled raising her child on her own. She is disabled and it breaks my heart to see them renting a room from someone and barely making ends meet month after month, year after year. Does anyone have suggestions on how she can find (very) low income housing/rental/apartment in the Orange, Los Angeles or Riverside County? Any input and suggestions would be appreciated so very much. Thank you in advance.

1. look at trulia.com! They have some really cheep houses and apartments on there that are also good!
2. you go on the County Website, Dept of Housing and look at the list for low income housing. Your friend can also fill out an application for Section 8 Your friend is entitled to Social Security Disability for herself and her daughter. Your friend's caseworker should be doing this and not you since no Government Agency will accept you as a legal representative
