how much a moth do you think they could afford?

  1. It depends on how much they make. Cosmotologists usually make between $20,000-$50,000. There are some business owners that do much, much better. Your rent should not exceed 25% of your monthly income. So, if you get paid $2,000 a month after taxes, you can spend $500 a month on your housing.
  2. It's difficult to come up with a pat answer since a cosmetologist usually, even though they work for an employer (they rent a seat in their salon) they actually work for themself and should have their own business license. Being an owner of a business usually an apartment complex manager would ask for your last five years of income (the taxes you've filed) to see if you can afford their apartment. If you're young they might determine it on only one year and references. If you need a co-signer then ask someone who makes a great salary or ask your parents to be the co-signer and that would be for only your first one-year lease and if you pay timely then when you re-sign the lease in a year their name will drop off the lease. I'd say from personal experience that it might cost you around $1500 to start. Then you "might", depending on your lifestyle, be able to pay for an apartment that's about $500 a month and that stands only if you're busy all the time in the salon and is after you pay your station fee. You'd have electric to pay and maybe water too, groceries, insurances, phone, car, car insurance, gas, tags, etc. Can you afford all that?
