i'm new to the states and i'm in desperate need of a job. need some help in how to search for one?

i kept applying refering to criags list and different job search web sites. i get no response from any of them. just wondering if there is any other way to get one? thank u in advace

1. Craigslist is not a reliable site. Many scams are on there. Talk to people where ever you practice religion or socialize. Make friends and you may be able to find a job that way. Also check the newspaper daily. There are jobs listed on a "few" internet sites that are reliable. Anyone who wants money from you to find a job is running a scam, do not give them money. 2. As you have probably guessed by now - even lazy americans who insist they're looking for work, by filling out applications online are getting the hint. THAT IS NOT HOW YOU FIND A JOB! Talk to your friends/relatives/anyone who knows you enough to let you in their house - and NETWORK! that means you ask everyone for any information that might lead you to an opening or a job interview! Then you must work on your SKILLS -- are you good with people/animals/trees/flowers? Whatever - find something that makes you feel good - like fixing cars or shopping (for others) helping people pack and move, washing windows (I don't know - somebody must like to do these awful things or they wouldn't get done) Find something your passionate about and make it a livelihood!
