The grandma is taller than the mom, so will the puppy be even smaller? maybe three inches tall?? Help he said parents are about 3lb I actually seen the parents in person they're no so big, they're probably from their feet to their spine about 6 1/2 inches. This is the size of the mom and dad, from what they loked like to me: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/images15/ChipinChihuahuaMiniaturePinscherMix.JPG

  1. You'll get good answers from the experts and members from this site. Askusweb.com
  2. "Small" or "teacup" dogs are dogs that have been bred generation by generation by backyard breeders for small size, which is tied to gallons of health problems. Please don't get one of these dogs, and encourage this horrible trade. This is a website about teacup dogs, with real stories to show what painful things these dogs and their owners can go through: http://www.barkrescue.net/teacup.htm If you get a chihuahua, buy one from a real breeder or rescue from a shelter.
  3. PLEASE do not shell out $200 (or any amount) for this dog. You are being scammed. Unless they have done genetic testing on these parents (not just a 'vet check') and unless they show their dogs, they are not worth any more than a typical rescue Chihuahua. Don't support their bad breeding practices -- they will continue to breed and you may very well end up with a dog that has major temperamental issues AND could have all sorts of health issues. Don't take the chance. Ethically, you have two options: 1) you can decide to rescue a Chihuahua from a shelter, pound, or breed rescue (not from a breeder/pet store, as that is not rescuing but simply lining the pockets of backyard breeders and puppy millers). OR 2) you can find a reputable Chihuahua breeder and get a dog that is sound, well-bred, and healthy. ALL Chihuahuas are small. If you go to a breeder that breeds to standard, your dog won't exceed 6lbs typically (as this is the standard)...that is a very small dog. Don't fall for the "mini" or "teacup" crap - those dogs are badly bred and often get much LARGER than a Chi should be. Here's the Chihuahua Club of America: http://www.chihuahuaclubofamerica.com/ You can start here to find a reputable breeder or rescue. You can also look on http://www.petfinder.com
  4. You already Asked this. They're only 6 weeks old and they already look big. BYBs lie to make a sale. They sell their puppies very young (about 6 weeks too early) so you have an unrealistic assumption about their adult size. Aside from that, they're very poorly bred for chihuahuas, and they only look worse as they get older. Weight estimates at this age are very inaccurate. A reputable breeder who knows the size of every dog in each parent's pedigree is the only one who can even come close to ESTIMATING adult size, not breeders like this
  5. There are about a billion chihuahuas in the shelters in your area. Go adopt an adult, and then you will know exactly what size the dog will be. And you will probably save money.
  6. or you could get a tea cup chiluah.
  7. There are many, many chihuahuas looking for homes for various reasons. Bowser was one of those. I've never been sorry for taking this little man, sight unseen. He had been owned by a family with small children, a no no, and he ended up biting them. With us, he is one very nice, loving dog. A little man who needed an understanding home.
