How can I tell my parents craigslist is safe for selling?

I am trying to sell my roland td-3 and amp and craigslist seems like my best bet. my parents are the paranoid type and always tell me to be careful for hackers and scammers on the internet. they say they'll talk about it but they never do. what can I tell my parents to help them believe craigslist is safe (as long as we're careful) and we can get our money's worth for what we are selling.

1. There is some degree of risk, much less for sellers, demonstrate to your parents your awareness of common scam techniques. One seller scam is someone saying they are on vacation out of the country and want to pay you with an oversized check, if you return a portion of the excess.
