can a single person purchase a two bedroom house which is affordable housing?
Is it possible for a single person to purchase a two bedroom house which is affordable housing if I don't have children? Or would I only be able to purchase an affordable housing flat? Thanks ;)

- You mean for Housing Benefit? You can only get Housing Benefit if you live in the correct environment; if you're a single person or a couple you're only entitled to a 1 bedroom property. Otherwise you'd have to cover most of the rent by yourself.
- Yes, you should be allowed to, as you may have visitors or someone staying.
- Ask the council and the developers, different areas probably have different criteria.
- Affordable housing has nothing to do with housing benefit for a start. Applying for affordable housing is also not dependant on having a family, many of the schemes are simply aimed at people on lower incomes, who would not otherwise be able to afford a large deposit and may have a hard time getting a mortgage, but it depends on what is available in your area. Many are part buy part rent schemes or other set ups and many aimed at a lower income rather than being single, married, 10 kids, or none. But it will depend on what is available in your area so have a go! :))
- It is possible.
