Will a piercing effect my future career search?

I'm a freshmen in college, studying nursing and thinking about getting my left ear pierced but for some reason I'm hesitant cause i'm afraid that when I go to get a job, they won't hire me, even if its out. Your opinion would help, thanks !

1. I think this will matter depending on what type of job you are seeking. If it is a job where you will be dealing with customers, some employers may pass...by two cents...
2. This probably won't be a very popular answer, but perception is every thing. If I'm an HR guy trying to hire a nurse and I have to choose between a guy/gal with piercings and one without (everything else being equal), I'd pass on the piercings. OTOH, if you have it out, it probably won't make a big difference as long as it isn't one of those huge, 1/2" holes in your lobe like M Shadows of A7X.
