- its reallly how many people get jobs, is it safe? yes and no but what else are you going to do. Is anything safe nowadays. Do it . Don't go on craiglist though and post your resume.
- If they are secure sites yes. The web address after sign in should start https, if its just http then no, its not secure.
- Yep, 100%. I've had my resume on Monster and CareerBuilder for years...all has been fine, without any problems.
- Yes and No. Websites always have that chance of getting hacked if they don't update their security software. So if they don't, they probably will get hacked unfortunately. I know with Careerbuilder you can apply to jobs without setting up an account as I have applied through those means. Not certain with Monster. Usually, I check the job listings on those sites and apply to the Company's website directly. I remembered reading sometime ago that Monster got hacked. Found the article. http://www.zdnet.com/blog/gadgetreviews/monstercom-hacked-user-id-e-mail-phone-numbers-stolen/897 I guess my advice is to be careful when applying and if they ask for your SSN or even the last 4 digits, don't give that to them. They don't need that info until you're hired.
- It is fairly safe, but not totally. Don't put your address on your resume. Create a new email just for job searching since you will receive a lot of spam. It gets you exposure to recruiters and headhunters which is good, but also to spammers which is not good.
