Summer reading list: What is a current book that One finds of interest this summer?
I am finishing an old Michael Connelly - "Angels Flight" and read "Blood Memory" by Greg Iles. Just lightweight quick page turners for me. @mydearsie - thanks - I will check at the library. @flower - yes - plot has murders in the car.

- I have read all of Connelly's books. I am waiting for his latest from the library. I am not reading anything current right now, just older books. Have you read "Madonnas of Echo Park"? It is a first novel by Brando Skyhorse and I thought it was very well written. Also, I like the books by Oscar Hijuelos. It all starts with his Pulitzer Prize winning novel, "The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love". I read his autobiography a couple of months ago. His books are interesting.
- I am reading books by Quintin Jardine just now. They are set in Edinburgh and the main character is Acting Chief Constable Bob Skinner (about to become Chief)
- Is that Angels Flight the old tram in downtown Los Angeles ?? I got a hold of a book of poetry written by Anne Morrow Lindbergh from 1955. Is was very useful. I am now trying to sell it and it is in great condition. I put it up on Ebay but no interest.
- I just finally read Errol Flynn's biography ("My Wicked, Wicked Ways"). (SIGH!) What a guy!!!!! Always a rake - never a cad!
- I have The Help from the library but haven't started it yet. It looks like a good one, though. I also intend to read Dinah's recommendation, Wordplay or Wordspeak by Robert MacNeil. And because of my question yesterday about Dick Cheney's book I may have to read it just to be obstinate, and to see what goes on in that twisted mind of his. One book I will NOT be reading is Abuse of Power by Michael Savage, who has promoted it endlessly on his radio program. Just the thought of reading a romantic scene written by that man makes me want to vomit.
- im reading all of frank peretti s work , some if not most of it is pretty fair.
- I have a short attention span so I read stuff like this which Amazon.com sells: The Penguin Book of Modern British Short Stories, it's hard to put down I might check out "Swamplandia!" at the library; Carl Hiaasen gave it a good review. by Karen Russell
- I am studying the New Testament right now.
- I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Shack, Wm. Paul Young. I know, it's not that current, but give me a break. I'm getting old, and I do everything a bit slower now. I understand the book was quite controversial, which I find interesting. After all, it's fiction, for goodness sake! I found it very inspiring though.
- I'm reading De'ja' Vu..by Fern Michael ..very good book so far..=)
- Most of the stuff I read is not current. But I just finished a delightful little item from the early 1970s that might be of interest to Seniors. It's Joe Brainard's one-of-a-kind book "I Remember," which has variously been described as poetry, humor, a memoir, and even a children's book. It consists of hundreds of little epigrams each beginning with "I remember...", juxtaposing a lot of stuff having to do with pop culture from the 40s and 50s and 60s that everyone who grew up in those years will remember, and a lot of intensely personal stuff about Brainard's own life (some of which has to do with his homosexuality, though that is not the focus of his memories, so you don't have to be gay to enjoy it).
- We 'discovered' Lee Childe and waded through his action series and loved them. He has a new one coming out this month and I've pre-ordered it on my Kindle. I've been a long-time fan of W.E.B.Griffin for the past 15 years but this year's latest is flat and boring. First time he's written bad one.
- I am reading a book about reincarnation and it is very interesting. Ian Stevenson Dr. Ian Stevenson is a psychiatrist who studies the very strongest cases of young children remembering details about their past lives. Most of these children live in India, and ... www.ial.goldthread.com/kidspage/stevenson.html
- Loving my Kindle, concurrently I am reading The Works of Mark Twine (24), Trapped by Jack Kilborn, just finished The Red Church by Scott Nicholson.
- I just discovered and read 3 of Lee Child's books and I would hope they become movies. I read the 3 in a little over 4 days and just could not put them down. I'm a senior citizen and don't always find many of the books I would like as I get them in the free box at the library or a thrift store. GREAT read.
- For a fun series, any of the Evanovich's numbered books aren't a bad choice.
- I'm currently re-reading 'Stalingrad' by Antony Beevor. I like the way he narrates the facts, wihtout biased to either side. Despite the horrors of what took place, it seems we are not learning from history at all.
- I'm reading Baldacci's Hells Corner
- One of my grandsons has been working on self help and has recommended this book. It has been on The Best Sellers list for 7 years. The Fifth Agreement By Don Miguel Ruiz and son - Don Jose Ruiz A Practical Guide To Self Mastery. Very worth while reading. My husband is reading it to me. I can read for myself but this is good reading for the both of us. There is always reason and room for improvement. DeeJay - read The Help too. Learned much.
