What's your recent experience with Canada's national Do Not Call List?

I've started getting telemarketing calls, so I'm trying to decide whether to put my number on this list. Of course I've been Googling this, but I'm only coming across comments from over a year ago, when the list was new and there were lots of problems. So, for people who've registered on the list more recently: 1) Was it a good idea overall? Do you get fewer telemarketing calls now? 2) Do they give your number to exempted parties (like charities), resulting in more non-telemarketing calls? (The website says that (a) they publish the DNCL, and (b) charities etc. are exempt, so in theory it sounds like some people could actually GET your number for the DNCL.)
