National Career Readiness Certificate re testing?

The NCRC or National Career Readiness Test is something they are telling all the people who have been laid off in Oregon to take. If my tests are low they tell me I can re take the test. My test scores were pretty good. I got a 90 on reading and 80 and 81 on math and locating. That gives me a Gold certificate. With one or two more questions correct on Math and Locating and I could probably get the whole certificate up to a Platinum level. If I re test do I get to keep the best score or do I get stuck with the score on the last test I took. Also, is paying for access to the online study guide a good investment or should I just order a book. One interesting note. I have asked these same question to their customer service folks and no one knew the answers. They also couldn't direct me to someone who could. If the online study guide is like this it is money down a rat hole. Also, do employers even care about this NCRC score. Or is this just something to make the Employment Department look like it is doing something helpful. Thank you for your consideration

  1. ACT awards NCRC certificates based on the level score achieved not the individual scale scores. The level scores required for each test are as follows: Bronze scores of at least a level 3 on the 3 assessments, Silver scores of at least a level 4, Gold scores of at least a level 5, Platinum scores of at least a level 6. If you retest your highest score, not necessarily your most recent score is used for calculating the highest level of certificate achieved.
  2. The Oregon NCRC website has posted some great employer success stories. http://www.oregonncrc.org/index.php/for-employers/employer-spotlights Also, more employer case studies are available on the ACT website. http://act.org/workforce/case/ Over 40 states now have statewide or regional National Career Readiness Certificate programs, and employers across the country are recognizing its value.
