How can i find low income housing in my city?

Hello I just recently moved to San Diego,CA and i was wondering how do i find low income or subsidized housing in this city. And also is it a way that i can apply for section 8 online? thanks in advance for you comments.

1. Check out the County Website and see what is listed under Dept of Housing/HUD There should also be a link for Section 8 Be prepared for a 4 yr wait

You can work doing maintenance in exchange for reduced rent Most larger cities in California are closed to new Sec 8 applications. You might ask the HA about the rural housing program. Even if the HA is taking new apps, it is about a 7 year wait in cities like SD, LA and SF. You are not eligible unless you are a senior, disabled or low income family. Priority goes to homeless veterans and government-displaced persons.
