Where to look for a room to rent in New York City !?

hey there yahoos , i can't stay upstate any longer. so i decided to move into the city. the problem is I can't seem to find any good websites to help me along this decision i took. i heard about craigslist.org , and i been looking on it for some time now. but all the listings are limited i m just looking for one bedroom ( fine i'll share bathroom nd kitchen ) . But is WWW.CRAIGSLIST.ORG the only website in the world for this ? i mean there has to be some other websites out there and why can't i seem to find it . Am i going stupid ? i dn't understand this. Understand that i can't stay at my home anymore. i graduated this december. :) Please let me know if there are any other good sites for people like me :-(

2. There are several sites: http://newyorkcity.sublet.com/ http://www.rent-direct.com/ Also, you may want to post on the www.Meetin.org site for NYC. You'll be able to contact people who are in the city and have experience with various firms. They can tell you which are decent and which are scammers! Good luck...
3. Not on yahoo answers would be a good place to start. i recommend taking a trip down to the city to look at apartments.
