Best companies to work for in Orange County, CA?

I need to make a job change - the company I'm currently employed by has a work environment that is miserable. I know that there are downsides to everything and that no situation will be perfect. I also know that there are a number of great companies in the Orange County area. Do you know of any and, if so, what makes them great? Also, if you know of any non-traditional job sites (not monster, hotjobs, craigslist, etc.) please pass them on. Thank you for any help/advice you can give! Also, I'm very interested/knowledgeable in the video game industry, human resources, recruiting, and writing.

1. It's hard to answer this without knowing what type of company or line of work you're considering. Looking at Fortune magazine's 100 Best Companies to Work For list for 2007, a lot of them have offices/locations in Orange County: Google (1), Container Store (4), Qualcomm (14), Nordstrom (24), Microsoft (50), Paychex (70), Marriott (89), Ikea (96), and a lot of others. Aside from that, networking is a really valuable tool for you. Start talking to your friends about your hope to find a new job, and they can keep their eyes and ears open for positions they hear about through their other friends. Remember that most jobs are never advertised as being open but instead of filled through word-of-mouth. I can't think of any non-tradition job sites. Good luck finding something you like better!
