Craigslist - Free to Good Home - Devastating?

This is just one of the many reasons people should be more responsible and not use Free to Good Home ads. Spay and neuter your pet. Some people will say this is not a question but we can turn it into one - were you aware of the dangers to any animal listed in a Free to Good Home ad? "If you're looking for a good time, or maybe just an entertainment center, Craigslist is usually a great place to start. But there's a really worrying side to the online community that has directly facilitated a number of extremely disturbing cases of cruelty to animals. Craigslist's "free to a good home" ads seem innocuous at first glance, but the fact is that giving away animals over the Internet to anyone who so much as expresses an interest is just unbelievably irresponsible, and Craigslist's ads have resulted in such hideous animal abuse cases as the recent torture and mutilation of three gray tabbies in Austin, including a 3-year-old cat named Taylor, who were obtained through Craigslist" People cannot list Free to Good Home ads if the place like Craigslist does not accept them. 1. I had no idea, however I do know that if some people are "giving-away" animals to a good home, some are actually taken in to an abusive home-take for example kittens that people pick up and us to train their pit bulls for dogfights. As I have said before, sell them! $5 or $10 dollars- who is going to pay for an animal to take it home and abuse it? It's so sad and crazy how the world is today! :(
  2. Also, there have been instances of labs that do animal testing using the free animals in their labs. Not that I think all animal testing labs do this, but certainly the unscrupulous ones do. I wouldn't be surprised if PETA picks up some of these free animals and disposes of them.
  3. Craiglist isnt to blame.. its people who are ignorant and think if they say "FREE TO GOOD HOME" only good home people will come.. this is stupid.. on the internet.. in newspapers.. it doesnt matter... how do you know its a good home unless you check it yourself? most serial killers admitted to starting out by getting "Free to good home" animals... many snake owners accept kittens as snake food...people with illegal fighting dogs need easy bait to train them with... nobody is gonna show up scruffy and even if they do - people are so despirate to get rid of their pet they often just give it away to the first person that comes. 1. FREE ADS should be illegal. 2. People should spay and neuter. 3 Pets should be rehomed with the assistance of an animal shelter if the owner cannot rehome them properly.
  4. You thinking too much on this...
  5. yes and that also goes for dogs... there is a beautiful spaniel who ihas only a short time to live due to euthinasia practiced at the shelter this poor fella ended up at it is urgent to adopt him....before he is put to death.. all because somebody did not claim him after he ran away? sad indeed...
  6. Thank you for posting that. It sounds like Taylor was turned away by a no-kill shelter. They get so much hype for being the greatest freaking idea in history, but in reality animals are kept in cages for months or years while others are turned away only to be abused like this. Open admission may not be the prettiest solution, but they will never turn an animal away.
  7. well as someone pointed out "Free" to a good home is part of the problem and that's been going on long before Craig's list existed. I agree charge for the animal even $5-$10 . Another is maybe it's time to start having a little government control on the internet.
  8. most people on Craigs list charge a re-homing fee in my area Va. Nothing is hardly ever posted for free anymore.
