what are inexpensive effective ways to advertise a disc jockey business?

My husband has a dj business and it's growing but we just spent $5,000 in advertising at wedding shows so I'm wondering if people might know more advertising methods that are effective and don't cost a lto. Besides these ones craigslist, newspaper and stuff. Any good answers?

  1. •1) I run a custom embroidery company and you need to create your cooperate identity. Create your logo and business name on your cooperate apparel. 2) Put the logo on your Auto 3) Make up business cards and hand them out. Every time you see someone you know hand several of them out. When you give people your business card, always give them more than one and ask them to give them to their friends/coworkers, etc. Print or flyers and post them on public boards if there are any near you and post in a forums that related to your location if there are any! 4) The key for this kind of business is word-of-mouth. Think of some clever ways to encourage your existing clients to tell people about you. Perhaps you could start with a friend or family member to be one of your "spokesperson". I owned a convenience store for 10 years and a lot of business deals started in the checkout line by strangers. Tell everyone about you and ask if they know anyone that could use your service. Ask for a referral from an existing client 5) Start a website as a way to advertise you. Let your website work for you and your clients swap links. When making your own web site do some research on how to optimize your site so that you get a good ranking with a natural search. You do this by embedding smart key words. Your website could show your community involvement and you could have questions and answers on the site. 6) A Yellow page ad seems to work great also. 7) Look for websites that you can advertise for free. Advertise in the Yahoo local. Find free on-line classified web sites for your community. Typically the local chamber of commerce will offer such a service. You can advertise here for free: http://www.hits2u.com/?149843 http://goldbizz.localads.co.uk http://www.trafficswarm.com/go.cgi?48605 http://www.koolplaz.com/ Post a link to your site for free where it is allowed Examples are: Craigslist http://www.craigslist.com Google Base http://base.google.com Classifieds for Free http://www.classifiedsforfree.com/... Text Link Exchange http://www.txtswap.com/ Recycler.com http://www.recycler.com/ Yahoo Classifieds http://classifieds.yahoo.com/ US Free Ads http://www.usfreeads.com/ 8) Try to get your local newspaper to do a free article on your business. 9) Sponsor local sport teams or ballparks that hang up banners. There are also inexpensive ways to advertise like a local penny saver newspaper, high school yearbooks and newspapers, etc. 10) Call radio show call in and contest and always answer or make the statement with "your name and company name and you have been working hard" free radio ads are great. 11) Find out if you have the Welcome Wagon in your community. You can get something inserted in their welcome packages both for new home buyers and people who have just had a baby. There will be a cost involved in this, I believe. Good luck! •Print flyers and post them in businesses, but ask them first. Some businesses have bulletin boards for such things.
  2. We assume that you have an up and running website. The following article will prove helpful to you in streamlining your SEO metatags in order to attract more Net traffic by higher search engine placement. The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is to first set up a website and publish its domain name on major search directories such as Google.com, Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?...... and MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these search directories to provide them with goods and services. In a sense, these search directories are a very large Internet Yellow Pages. Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage fail to contain "generic" keywords, then anyone using such "generic" queries will not be able to discover your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website, in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable. You may want to consider some simple algorithms which, when observed and committed in designing of a website with placement of various critical metatags that can surely achieve a high search engine presence and increase Internet traffic to your website. These metatag strategies work well with published webpages at Google and Yahoo. Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based website, make sure to fill-in the property entries such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the Internet audience and their incoming setup. For example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages take too long to load up and therefore analog users will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple question, "Who's my end user - is he on dialup or DSL?" And if you had to choose between these two users for maximum marketability, then select analog users since 80% of most resident users are still analog Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages is best for them. A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text, is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a graphic, they are not indexable by search robots. Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots are unable to properly classify textual material. Placement of Metatags: A ranking or search order does take place with Google and Yahoo and it begins with the "Title" metag which should consist of no more than 60 characters separated by commas. The "Title" should describe in generic terms, the goods and services, followed by a location from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state. The placement of a domain name which is not generic within the "Title" is not appropriate, unless your domain name is a major recognizable brand name. The second metatag is the "Description" which is usually up to 41 words to form a complete paragraph which best describes one's goods and services. It is not merely a list. And the very last category - "Keywords" are also somewhat limited to 15 words which can be plural and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries which could be mistaken as "spamdexed entries" which is defined as the loading, and submission of repetitive words into a particular metatag category. "Spamdexing" when discovered on a webpage and reported to Google's spamreport.com can result in the elimination of your website from their search directory. Here's an example of a very highly-placed website on Google.com: Begin with the very "generic" search query "sandwiches downtown los angeles," taking note to not abbreviate Los Angeles to "LA" and of course, leave out the parentheses ("). It will bring up some 2.4 million+ search results. Check out where "Nazos.net" is ranked. It's on the FIRST FRONT PAGE [ranked #5]! Again, Nazos.net's high web presence was achieved by proper web design and placement of relevant metatags according to Google's publication guidelines. Good luck!
  3. Make an advertisement on Microsoft Publisher where you can put a phone number on and people can tear it off where ever you hang the advertisement. I suggest hanging them in stores, student unions for college parties, or where ever you see bulletin boards. I see a lot of these at the college where I work.
  4. google adwords works pretty well. you write a short ad, choose keywords you want to bid on, and pick your own bid amounts and budget. so you could set your budget to $10.00/day and bid $.50 on "your city wedding dj" , and whenever someone searched that on google your ad would show up under sponsored results (right column), and if someone clicked on your ad and went to your website, you pay a $.50. If you want to optimize your website so it shows up for keywords/phrases that people would search when looking for a DJ on a search engine like google or yahoo you should look for a good internet marketing company to help. you basically need good page titles, inbound links, keywords in content, h1 tags...
  5. The best method of advertising is word of mouth. You can get word of mouth advertising in one of two ways. Encourage your satisfied clients to refer other people your way or you do something that stimulates a response and has people talking about you over other similar businesses. The first way will require you to provide real value and great customer service. The second way will require you to think outside of the box and do something witty or canny. Volunteer a free Disc Jockey service during a local event that has a large group of people. Have plenty of business cards or flyers ready and pass them out. The people in the crowd will think that you were hired by the event staff, and they assume you are a worthy and reputable business. You just have to be willing to put in a few free hours of your service. You will have plenty of exposure to potential customers. Good Luck!!! Jay N
  6. have you made a myspace for it? myspace is a great way to get your name out there in your local area.
