  1. Why buy something 18 years old?
  2. it might. because if the condition is fine you should . it's also about the money what's the coast of the car what's the gas it drive on so find out and then make your decision.
  3. Looks okay from the photos.... but there is no substitute for a closer examination and test drive. If you are not familiar with cars then take someone with you who is. ANY well maintained car should last forever (theoretically).
  4. I have a 1996 Audi a4 and i love it but when i need to fix something on it it is very expensive for the parts and labor so be prepared when something happens. I am also a student so i really don't recommend buying it even if its in good condition now it will eventually need repair. You should get a vehicle that is not as expensive to fix.
  5. I had one of those cars and wish I would have kept it as a winter car, I live in Cleveland. My brother had the same car and was happy with it. It looks like it is in good condition. Get a flashlight and get under the car, on the ground all the way under. Look for leaks in the oil pan, transmission pan and near the exhaust manifolds. You still may want to buy the car, but you need to know what sort of repairs you might need. Is it a 5 cylinder? If so those engines are generally bullet proof and if maintained can run a long time. Does the AC work, if not that can be expensive to fix. With this car you need to be smart about repairs. You need to find a shop that specializes in used German cars and will let you bring in parts or will source them from a few aftermarket suppliers. You can not pay dealer prices for parts on your budget. a>
  6. If that is what you can afford, I would not buy it. Think on other things like maintenance. Do not put all your eggs in one basket. On this case, seems in good shape according to pics, but that does not means that maintenance has been done by the book and was well taken care of. I would not buy it, I need a test drive and look really good at it with a fine tooth comb. Pics does not tells much of the mechanical working conditions.
  7. what motor is in the car? 5 cyl or v-6? i have an 92 100cs, with the 2.8 v6. good little car, but if your not good under the hood stay away!! audi's are very expensive for parts and labor, but if your set on the car, find out when the timing belt was last replaced. it needs to be done every 60,000 miles, and being an interferience motor, if it breaks, you'll need to replace the heads. i did my own timing belt for $300 and 6 hours of labor, to have a dealership do it is like 1200-2500. if i was you on a limited budget, get a honda they're cheap to fix most problems and run forever
  8. dont even bother to look at it.... i dont know about you but remember how older audis had the braking problems.... why not buy a newer audi with most of its older malfunctions fixed?.... why not buy a newer used car with slighly lower maintenence?.... but then its really up to you because i bought a lexus ES300 with 104K on it and had the tranmission replaced 6 times and was very dissapointed... and that was a 2000 model.... imagine what a 1990 car's upkeep would be like?....
  9. yes these are great reliable little cars. Parts are cheap and easy to get. plus dealers are really friendly and see these old cars in all the time for regular maintnance . infact they keep techs trained on the old systems for quality repairs.
