Is this a good tank for breeding angelfish?

I was talking to an angelfish breeder.I told her that on the internet it said I would only need a 15 gallon tank to breed angel fish, she told me that you would need 1 male, and 2 females, and at LEAST a 30 gallon tank. I have found this SUPER tank and I want to know if you think it would be a good tank? Also...question here, if I left the fry in the tank with the parents, whitch from what I hear they take good care of them and it is a beautiful sight to behold!!XD Would the other female eat the fry cuz they are not hers???Would she help??Should I tank her out...or should I take the fry out??I just thought of the questions and its to late to call the breeder I know.=( Anywayyys, thanx! Oh yea, heres that tank! XD http://austin.craigslist.org/for/721108821.html

  1. The 30 gallon tank should be ok. I bred a pair of angels in a 29 gallon. Yes the angels will guard the eggs but with my fry i had to put them in a 10 gallon but that was because other fish. Also I would remove the other angel and leave mom and dad in there and keep a close eye on them. If they start picking on the fry then i would also take them out of the tank.
  2. An experienced breeder can get by with a 15 high for the breeding pair alone. This means no fry, no other fish, decorations, or substrate. I go no smaller than a 20 high for standard fin pairs, a 29 for veils. This keeps me from having to do multiple water changes every week. That is a good price for that tank, pick it up. If you put one male & two females in a tank, and they do pair, the odd female out will get really torn up. Angels are cichlids, and do have the usual new world cichlid attitude, especially when actively breeding. The inbreeding required to get the various colors & fin phenotypes has also bred out much of the parenting instinct. Angels in general are worse parents than most cichlids. More often than not you have to hatch the spawn in another tank. Here's a link to something I wrote a couple of years back, it will give you more info than I have the time to key in here; http://www.fishforums.net/content/New-World-Cichlids/96104/Angelfish-Spawning-and-Breeding/
