Good road bike for under $200?
I live in Austin and am looking for a ready-to-use road bike for under $200...I want a reliable one that is in good working condition and won't need frequent attention. Any suggestions? besides CRAIGSLIST! I'm actually not sure if I need a road bike or not...I just need one for commuting

- Road bikes are not your best bet if you will be using it for commuting. It would make it a lot easier if you said $300.00 but I bought a nice Marin Pioneer Trail for just under $200.00 before taxes last fall during the Clearance sale at the local bike shop. Wonderful riding bike.
- I actually don't know of any. Commuting you don't want a road bike. A cross, comfort or MTB do do you better. $200 is a really low price for something other than a Walmart type bike. You don't want craig's list, Ebay the shipping would put you over $200. Look in the paper I guess or hit a sporting goods store. They have a better quality the Walmart/kmart. You just may find a bike on sale there for your price range.
- Check your local want ads or sometimes some better bike shops have a selection of used bikes for sale.
- when school starts hang out after the first bell rings and pick one
- I live in Los Angeles and just got a MTN bike to ride to work. I do not think you are going to find a road bike under 200 but an entry level MTN bike would be best. Look at the Giant Boulder, its about $50 more then you want to spend, but you may be able to find a sale on a 2006 or 2007 bike.
