A hybrid breed makes it into the classifieds as a purebreed but the american bulldog is excluded ???

This one completly amazes me, I have to laugh. Epupz which is the biggest doggy classifieds in the uk currently lists the labradoodle as a dog breed. Nowhere will you find the american bulldog though. Like almost all uk classifieds they will not list or even i.p ban people advertising american bulldogs. Check it out, http://www.epupz.co.uk/search/puppies_for_sale.asp Look at the breed drop down list. This must be some kind of landmark for hybrid breeds. The labradoodle getting preference over the american bulldog. It the world of the pea brain the the american bulldog is not a breed and is only a code for a pitbull and the labradoodle is a purebreed haha. Can anyone make sense of this for me?

  1. Crazy isn't it? I can only assume that there are enough litters of labradoodles being advertised to make it worth their while listing them as a 'breed' (and I use the term only for want of a better word right this minute).
  2. Insane. Hey Indi, can you answer my question about the term "chocolate" in dog breed names. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArWBgOMn8IiLvPTQK37bUyjsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080430043553AAjMlEK Just something to lighten the mood a little. LOL
  3. I agree this is just crazy and is going to lead to more people making crosses to see what comes of it... BYB... ughhhh!!!!!
  4. I agree and what I would also like to know is just what the "breed standard" is for a labradoodle. I have met a few now and if you were to put them all side by side you wouldn't be able to say they were all of the same "breed". One looks like an Italian Spinonie, one a curly coated terrier and everything else inbetween.
  5. Because the Labradoodle is in the cute & cuddly bracket and the A/M Bulldog is not ! Britian has never liked the A/M Bulldog, but they have found no reason to bann it YET ! they fully expected it to be another pitbull, but how WRONG they were ! Back in the late 90's I owned two, and on day I was visited by an R.S.P.C.A inspector, I asked him what he thought of the Bulldog, and he said he had never seen any in the flesh, but had heard they were like a" pitbull on steroids" "like a pitbull but worse " He was even more shocked when he found out he was infact stroking two of them for the last 15 minuetes ! Just my opinion !
  6. Makes perfect sense to me! Epupz is almost exclusively used by back yard breeders, puppy farmers and puppy dealers so of course they are going to be one of the most popular so called breeds on there. No reputable breeder advertises on there and no reputable breeder breeds these sort of dogs! Regarding the american bulldog issue I imagine the site owners care a lot more about possible law suits in case a pit bull is sold on there than what actually is a breed or what represents a reputable breeder! I wouldnt even log on to that site as I would hate to give them any more hits than they already have.
