Do people really fall for these scams in dogs?

I was reading the classifieds and came across a so called "breeder" that has american bulldog pups for sale. The ad said the dogs were, CKC, AKC and NKC registered. Does anyone see the problem with this? Since when did AKC start recognizing american bulldogs? They are trying to sell these pups for $800 and I really hope no one falls for this scam. And no, the ad did not say english it said american and it showed AB's in the picture. It's sad that people go that low to scam someone. They obviously aren't interested in the pups best interest because my first concern would be making sure the pups went to safe, loving and forever homes. Not who I can scam to make lots of money. People are sick

  1. Yes they do.
  2. Some people are idiots and have no clue what a Registry is, let alone what "registered" means... and why in many cases it's completely irrelevant. But then, look at the number of people buying "Cavachons" and "Maltipoos" and the rare "Liver colored Mini Schnauzer". Some people are idiots, and unethical breeders are making a fortune off of their stupidity.
  3. Yes, people fall for it because they DON'T research...They look at the fact that they are registered with CKC, AKC,NKC and think they are getting an AWESOME dog when they have NO idea what this means....
  4. yes, 90% of buyers dont really care about papers or registrations and pedigrees. They just want to tellyou their dog is special because they have them. so what if it is a made up registry, they wouldnt know the difference anyway. very sad stuff
  5. Didn't Paris Hilton's friend pay $6,000 for some mixed breed puppy (that ended up being sick) from some guy who was a backyard breeder? People are stupid. Some never do any research.
  6. Alot of people don't do research on the breed they are interested in...so when they see one for sale and see all the AKC, CKC etc... they just assume it's legit. It's a shame really...people really get fooled easily.
  7. Yes they do. They are the same idiots the believe there is such a thing as a "teacup" anything and belive puggles, labradoodles, maltipoos, and the like are real breeds.
  8. Yup, people do. It may say AKC, but it is not the AMERICAN kennel club. I am sure there is a registry out there that has the same initials, but is registering dogs that are not with in the AKC standard. It is sad, but the general public is ignorant to all of this.
  9. they do all the time.
  10. call and report them
  11. If people were uneducated about which dogs were registered and recognized by these groups, it's possible. Or if they were, in general, just uneducated about the breed, since there is a plethora of dogs recognized and unrecognized and if they didnt know much about Bulldogs it could have slipped right past them.
  12. Just to pass on some more info on scams, for the past 2 days, I was looking on a website selling puppies. I noticed a seller with an expensive breed for $350 including shipping. After some research I fpund that the same seller had 48 pups of different breeds, all female, all 12 weeks olds, same birthday, and all $350 including shipping. I did contact the seller, as well as a friend of mine, in order to get some more info. We got word for word responses, about 2 different breeds. I reported the scam to the website and googled the name on the account. I found out they were using the name of a legitimate breeder, so I called her with a warning. All of the adds were removed, but they were back today under a new name. So please beware when buying puppies. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
